Thread | Ruby, age 6

I think the thread
Is the
Wheel of a car
And
It can roll
So far
Because something
Which makes
It no one knows
What it is.
I think it leads
You to a secret.
It may

Be a golden pyramid.

Pencil | Vita Goodwin, age 6

In war. The pencil
Is their weapon

The Sea | Peta Gordon

The sea is a growling lion,
sapphire black.

She roars at the shore,
rolls out her body
getting ready to grab us
with the sprinkles on her claws.

Hour upon hour
she smashes down our sea wall

eating up the sand droplets.

The Sea Dog | Kate Andrews

The sea is a little puppy.
I run towards it
it runs towards me
like we are playing a game of tag.

The sea dog barks
“ruff ruff,”
it says.
It’s crashing
it is very frisky.

I run up to it
and jump on its back.
When I lie down
it runs up and pounces on me.
It carries me on its back.
It’s as fast as a cheetah, that dog.

The dog runs around and around.
“Aoooooooo,” it howls at night
like a wolf.

The dog eats its dog food
upon the shore.
Day after day it gnaws
like a cow eating grass happily.
It chews morosely.
I wake up and run to see my dog.
When I walk up to it
it sprays me with spit and slobber.
“Ew,” I say.
I wash off with the dog surrounding me,
I spray it back
we have a water fight
I get soaked but I don’t care.
I run around and around.
The dog stamps on my feet softly.
“Let’s play!”
We play the back and forwards game.
Then I go home.

In the night I hear

“Auuuauuuauuu!”

The Sea | Noam McKay

The sea is an army
of slithering snakes
coming forwards.

The snakes spit poison
on to the sea wall.

Creepers pounce up at me.

They groan, and moan,
they twist and turn at me.

The Sea | Finn McKay

The sea is
moving plates of glass
with specks of white diamonds.

Day after day
the waves lash
the sea bed.

When the moonlight shines
on the seabed
it shines diamond white.

Manta Ray Ocean | Rory Maher

The sea is a Manta Ray
gliding through the ocean,
drifting over the shores
like a big flat hump,
surrounding the islands
on sunny days,
while people swim
in the Manta Ray oceans.

The Sea | Jayan Ranchhod

At Island Bay we run up and down like cheetahs.
When the sea is rough with waves cheetahs run up and down the sea.
The sea is a polar bear, a seal, a bunny.
Waves move like sharks.
The sea is a hungry monster eating fish, sharks, and other animals living in the sea.
Waves shoot in at the sea shore.
Slash, the wave slashes on the sand and turns it into mud,
oozy mud on the sand.

The Sea | Francesca Lyons

The sea is a puppy
clashing its jaws
up and down the beach.

Its jaws clash against the water
rolling here and there.

The droplets rain through the air
like sparkling sun spots.
He runs away and returns to attack
once it’s got energy back.

It barks and barks
with all its might.
With all its might it gnaws
through fishers’ hooks
and the waves.

“Bark bark,” goes the wind.
It splashes hard.

Day after day
the puppy chomps through the beach happily.
The fur sparkles as white as it can.

The puppy jumps over the sea wall
gnawing it down with all its strength.

It crashes, smashes rocks
under its swirling fur.
